What is HLMWDSS
HLMWDSS stands for Heather L McCall-Winnell Disability Support Service.
This is my name, and I chose to run this business under my name partly because of transparency. My name is in all parts HLMWDSS Specialised Substitute Residential Care Agency number CGVA0369 4 of this business as I have set up each policy and procedure, each form and worked hard to ensure at every stage to ensure the children’s standards are emersed within my business.
I also want to ensure you always have a point of call to contact, as you should always feel you can speak to me.
Who is Heather
I started this business in 2021 in response to a client’s family asking me to keep supporting them after leaving the agency at the time I worked for.
I am a mum of 3, 2 boys and a girl. I grew up with a brother with additional
needs, which has always been normal. Growing up in my family home taught me many skills, from patience to empathy to understanding how unrecognised the full-time carers are at home.
Once I became a mum, this concreted those feelings for me, and while, like most parents, it took a while to realise that as a parent, I needed to give myself time for self-care to recharge and not feel guilty for it. This is what this service is set up for. Both the client under 18 years of age and the family have well-deserved time to explore their interests, learn new skills, and visit new or favourite places.
Qualifications
I have worked in the caring community for over 30 years since I first started HLMWDSS Specialised Substitute Residential Care agency number CGVA0369 5, volunteering at our local fortnightly variety club, giving families well-deserved respite. I worked and qualified within the childcare field.
Following up with educational support qualification and a diploma in Community services, I am now in 3rd year of my Bachelor of Social Work with UOW. On top of these, I have added behaviour support, conflict training, and first aid. As the Principal officer at HLMWDSS, I ensure my professional development is regularly updated and refreshed.

All staff go through a complete check following child-safe standards and a thorough induction followed by buddy shift/s to ensure That each person is highly appropriate for your VIP.
